What it does

When to use it
Open a thread for a conversation: a ticket, an application, a giveaway's entries. Private, with Add roles set to @Staff, is a support ticket: the person who pressed the button and your staff are in it, nobody else.
When not to
For a private space outside the channel, Create channel with its own permissions fits better. Discord can't make a thread private later, so pick Private when you make it.
