Give a role if allowed
Give a role, or say why not (the role is above mine, an integration's, or they have it) instead of failing the run.
role.try_give
In a flow
“When a button is clicked, try to give a role.”
Button → Give a role if allowed → If Given is off → Reply: {node.g.why}.
What it does
Give a role, or say why not (the role is above mine, an integration's, or they have it) instead of failing the run. It's a step: it runs when the white wire reaches it, then the flow carries on from its Then pin. It gives 2 values later steps can use. Find it under Members & roles in the palette.
When to use it
Use it when the flow acts on a member: give a role, or say why not (the role is above mine, an integration's, or they have it) instead of failing the run.
When not to
If nothing should change in Discord, a value node or a check is lighter.
Typical wiring
Sockets: settings you can wire

-
Leave unwired for the member who started the flow, or wire one in, like Member from Find member.
What goes there: Type it in the side panel, or wire in a member. e.g. @Alex
If it's empty: Optional. Left empty and unwired, the step runs without it.
